Judging by available footage, certain regions of the world have tightly-packed groups of sky islands that can be reached through portals, hot air balloons, skydiving, and possibly other methods like the protagonist's shadowy wraith form. While the chances of a subterranean map in Crimson Desert like TotK's Depths are low, the game almost seems to be a direct response to Tears of the Kingdom's 2021 gameplay reveal trailer. It's surprising how much it resembles the recent Legend of Zelda title after both spent years in development, sharing a strong emphasis on sky islands and different methods for flight. However, all of that is nothing in the face of the many elements shared not just with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but also its recently-released sequel Tears of the Kingdom. The game goes for a more grounded realistic look that's quite similar to Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division 2 or Ghost Recon: Wildlands.The various survival simulation elements in Crimson Desert could be said to resemble Red Dead Redemption 2, and various other parts of the title draw comparisons to popular open world titles like Skyrim or The Witcher 3. Plan 8 is also their first game to stray away from the fantasy worlds and environments their games have been known for. While no further details have been divulged, the trailer shows a variety of exosuits that cover a wide range of mechanical enhancements, from wall running to enhanced strength, to even the capability of flight. Minh Le will serve as Technical Advisor, with Seung-ki Lee, former Environment Art Director of Black Desert Online and Black Desert Mobile, serving as the game's production lead. Plan 8 is a new MMO shooter headed by Minh Le, best known as one of the original developers of the Half-Life mod Counter-Strike. A beta test is planned to happen in 2020. All your decisions will ultimately affect your relationship with these mercenaries, from their relationship with the player's character up to the very gear and equipment that they use. Each mercenary is supposedly unique with its characterization and story. The game also prominently features mercenaries and is a vital mechanic in both the single-player campaign and the multiplayer world. It also pledges to have an "immersive single player campaign teeming with engaging quests". The game promises to both have traditional MMO elements like trading with other players, crafting, and PVP. So is SWTOR, Destiny 2, and even Warframe. Joining him in forming the game's leads are Dae-il Kim, the found of Pearl Abyss, and Eter Lee, former Lead Combat Designer for both RYL Online and C9. People keep saying the MMORPG genre is stagnant but then, everytime someone plays with the genre somewhat, they start saying 'this is not a real MMO' or something nonsense. The lead producer of Crimson Desert is Jason Lung, who previously worked as Game Design Director for RYL Online.
